For the second time in Alpinist history, art, rather than photography, makes up the cover of an issue. John Svenson’s “Morning Tea,” on the front of Alpinist 36, is the stylized rendition of an alpine moment that characterizes much of his work. From his one-room studio in Alaska, Svenson pulls from past travels to create artwork using a diversity of mediums and subject matter.
