Video: Aid Turns Free on Mt. Hooker

Posted on: December 31, 2014

Last August, David Allfrey, Nik Berry and Mason Earle completed the first free ascent of Sendero Luminoso (5.13d), a 13-pitch aid route on Mt. Hooker in Wyoming's Wind River Range. The project "required hard aid and hard free climbing, and we all had our respective roles," said Allfrey during a recent call. After first aiding the route's demanding pitches, they re-led the route free. Berry led the majority of the pitches during their one-day ascent.
