Honnold and Florine Break Nose Speed RecordPosted on: June 17, 2012 Alex Honnold and Hans Florine have broken the speed record on The Nose (VI 5.9 A2, 2,900') of El Capitan. Honnold and Florine blazed up the thirty-one pitch line in 2:23:46, breaking the previous record of 2:36:45. Many had speculated that the duo would attempt to break the speed record of The Nose after Honnold completed the Yosemite Triple Crown, a link-up of Mt. Watkins, El Capitan and Half Dome, in eighteen hours. Dean Potter and Sean Leary set the previous speed record of The Nose, which continues to be one of the most coveted speed record routes in the world. Source: The North Face
