Freddie Wilkinson and Renan Ozturk successfully completed the Tooth Traverse in the Ruth Gorge of Alaska. The traverse follows the five-mile skyline of the Mooses Tooth massif from Espresso Gap to Ruth Gap. The duo has pursued this line for several years, reaching a highpoint on the Sugar Tooth with Zack Smith in 2010. "It took five days and lots of digging to cross this incredible skyline... Hands down one of the most fulfilling mountain adventures I've had," Wilkinson wrote.

From Espresso Gap to Ruth Gap, really? Ruth Gap is northwest of Kahiltna Queen on the west side of the Ruth Glacier. It's hard to figure out their route, but it reads like they climbed from Espresso Gap over Bear's Tooth and then over The Mooses Tooth (a truly awe-inspiring feat), but it's difficult to determine where they descended The Mooses Tooth. |
The report on Climbing.com sheds a little light, enough to clarify somewhat. "Cavity gap to The Gateway." I believe they descended a majority of the West Ridge of the Moose's Tooth.
