Alex Honnold free soloed The Phoenix (5.13) on the morning of June 13, 2011 in eight minutes. First climbed by Ray Jardine in 1977, The Phoenix was the world's first climb at the grade of 5.13. Photos from its second ascent can be viewed here. This week Honnold also free soloed the fifteen pitch Chouinard-Herbert Route (5.11c) on Yosemite's Sentinel Rock. He did the both routes to provide footage for his upcoming 60 Minutes documentary.
