Thea Blodgett-Gallahan and Disco Death March

There were four of us, Tom Cervenak and I had brought 2 #6 Camalots with the intention of climbing Disco Death March while Jamie Hamilton and Thea were working a 5.12c variation finish to the seldom climbed Creature Features (5.11b/c) that climbs out a cool corner system adjacent to DDM. When Thea came down they decided to jump on the offwidth because as Thea said, “When are we going to have two #6 camalots out here again?” What was particularly impressive about her ascent is that at 5’3″ she couldn’t use the foot rail that Tom and I had used to traverse out to the lip (We are both over 6 feet tall) so she had to undercling out the bottom of the offwidth blindly sliding the cams along. It was a new route for her and she got it clean but the crux for her wasn’t the 10d finish, it was actually the traverse. She just absolutely loves hard trad, so everyday out in the Gunks with her is a great day.- Christian Fracchia
