Alex Honnold's Moonlight Buttress Playlist

Posted on: June 27, 2008

Alex Honnold, the 22-year-old featured in this week's Weekly Feature, made one of the most impressive free solos ever recorded on April 1 of this year (read the April 7, 2008 NewsWire) when he ran up Moonlight Buttress (V 5.12+, 9 pitches, 1,200'), Zion National Park, Utah in an extraordinary eighty-three minutes.

Over the phone Honnold told Alpinist: "I turned on my iPod at the beginning, played my Top 25, rocked that to the top, and had a couple songs to spare." So, of course, we asked: "What was on that playlist?" Below, he shares the magic. —Ed.

As for my playlist, I'd be happy to share. It's my Top 25... Always happy to force some angry rock on people.
