Alpinist Magazine Announces Wayne Roberts as Producer of the 2007 Alpinist Film FestivalPosted on: January 15, 2007 Jackson, Wyoming - January 15, 2007 - Alpinist Magazine is pleased to announce Wayne Roberts as the producer of the 2007 Alpinist Film Festival. Roberts, who has worked extensively in the New York film industry for the past four years, joins the Alpinist team most recently from South America where he visited the set of a feature-length documentary he worked on. In addition to executing the 2007 Alpinist Film Festival, which will be held March 15-17 in Jackson, Wyoming, Roberts will also be responsible for the advancement of the annual festival. "Not only are my energies dedicated to executing the best festival yet," Roberts states, "but also on creating the overall foundation and framework for the Alpinist Film Festival. I want its presence to be stronger, not only in the outdoor community but also in the film industry, and I want its name and reputation to be equivalent - if not better - than the major festivals in but a few short years." advertisement
With the addition of Roberts, the Alpinist Film Festival will undergo a series of changes and advancements, some of which have already begun. One of the most immediate changes is the implementation of a new submission policy. "In a matter of days an open submission policy will be created and will be available on our website. I believe that filmmakers from across the world should have the opportunity to submit the products of their hard work and passion, and I am confident that in doing so the Alpinist Film Festival will be the starting points for many great talent in the future of adventure filmmaking." Additional changes are also currently in the works. One such change, which will also be noticeable for the 2007 event, includes the expansion of the festival's program. "The festival needs to go global. Already in the lineup for 2007 is the US premiere of the Italian film 'Cerro Torre,' which documents the world's first-ever ascent of the infamous Patagonia peak it takes its title from. I'm hoping that by 2008 the Alpinist Film Festival will become the Alpinist International Film Festival, an event that has an even stronger international presence." Working in collaboration with Alpinist editor Christian Beckwith, additional changes and advancements are also said to occur. However, when asked, a quieter response was given by Roberts. "Those, unfortunately, are currently under wrap. But yes, the Alpinist Film Festival will be undergoing some drastic changes, particularly in its scope - All I'll say is we're expanding. It's as simple as that." The 2007 Alpinist Film Festival takes place March 15 - 17th at The Center for the Arts in Jackson, Wyoming. Tickets will soon be available through The Center for the Arts and can be purchased through their box office and online by visiting the Center's website at www.jhcenterforthearts.org.
