From June 15–18, 2003, Alan Powell and Nick Bullock opened a new climb, Fear and Loathing (ED3: 900m that join the East Buttress route), on Jirishanca (6094m). Sections of overhanging, rotten ice and crumbly rock required some creative aid—using axes and one screw. A full account of their expedition appears in Issue 5.
