 GREAT TRANGO TOWERPosted on: December 1, 2004 Recipients of a 2004 Alpinist B-Team grant, Kelly Cordes and Josh Wharton opened the Azeem Ridge (VII 5.11 R/X M6 A2, 7,400'), a new route leading to the West Summit (ca. 20,506') of Great Trango Tower (20,624'), July 24–28, 2004. After running out of fuel, the two climbed for forty-eight hours without water; their experience represented a harrowing “unveiling” of human potential.
